![]() ![]() Vydáno dne 18. 08. 2014 (208 přečtení) jak psal Jurgen (v angličtině) a new PC but mainboards don't have a PCI slots anymore that my TV-card needs. Also XP could't be used anymore, and I was forced using Win7 64bit. That actually meant no more TV-DX with freerun-mofr and video noise filter, a thought I hardly could accept. I can't use *any* other TVcard as mine has many DX-specific modifications, that can't be done on other units. So my mood was quite depressed. Steps I then took: 1. My PC-dealer had used PC with PCI slots, (Fujitsu W370), and Win7 installed These boxes are used for professional environment and look *very* sturdy, so I decided to buy that and hope that these one last longer than the cheapy constructions of consumer PCs. In the last 10..12 years I had: (with XP) - 3 hard disk failures - 2 mainboard failures I still have a DOS PC from ~1992, and a WinME PC from ~1997, all with original parts, no failure at all, and both were also used quite a lot. So h/w quality & reliabilty has gone down dramatically. My dealer experienced the same. 2. I found a driver for my TVcard, but that uses now the BDA driver model, fortunately Fly2000 does support BDA, but at the expense that all chip-specific features are now unavailable. That means my TVcontrol.exe can't work either. It took me a lot of research and programming to find a workaround for that, so it now works again. However the card now works only in PAL, no way to switch it to Secam or NTSC, or the automatic colour detector. That will be my next task to find a workaround, and hope to have it finished before the next transatlantic DX. 3. I first had severe problems with ffdshow (in Fly2000), Win7's renderer would not accept it anymore, but then I read my own webpage and found I should select different one, that actually worked, Thank God !!! There were many other issues with Win7 to get radio features running again, especially the different sound-chain mechanism caused troubles. And Win7 eliminated the internal beeper function. Some driver updates had to be bought, like that of Winradio. Then a *lot* of software had to be re-installed. So it took me more than 3 weeks to get the PC back to the same functionality. Some advantages: The USB connectors have a much better quailty. They all have good metal springs on both sides inside the connector that do firmly have contact with the plug-screen. So my problems with noise radiation on the USB cables are finally gone. The old PC had the contacts only on one side, (one connector had none!) and they were so sloppy and hardly made good contact with "ground". So I constantly sufered a high noise floor on 48-56 MHz, plus a lot of USB-activity spectral lines on 20-40MHz. These are all gone now. So I am glad that I can continue TV-DXing. Especially after Russia recently financed analog TV until 2018, and probably even beyond that. Jurgen Bartels Suellwarden, N.
