I started experiments with tree antennas--please see attachments
kindly sourced by our friend "Bear" ( Michael Hebbert )--in MW (medium
wave crystal receivers. Trees really function as excellent antennas,
substituting for a medium quality outside aerial, and they work best
with out a ground connection or counterpoise (my case). Also, they
won´t affect selectivity of my simple radio.
I tried one tree, the one with a rounded foliage (gardener's personal
art), with a screw introduced at around 2/3 of the tree's height and
the antenna's stripped lead-in wound around the screw for a good
connection to the tree. One interesting observation is that at MW
frequencies the tree is fully electrified, meaning that if I touch the
tree with my hand, the signal vanishes a little (maybe some signal
leakage to ground through my body). The strange thing of this is that
the tree IS connected to ground by its root system already!
Last evening I investigated the use of the tree as a VHF antenna for
aircraft signals in the 114MHz~130MHz band with my superregenerative
radio. Copies good signals from aircrafts within 60 miles. Today in
the morning sun-light hours I will try copying some base stations.
Again, no ground connection used.

Krysí poznámka: "stromová anténa" je stará věc z počátků radiotechniky. Nicméně
je možno ji zkusit, obyč. se každých tak 30 let objeví někde její popis, hi!
Výsledky jsou různé podle výšky a i druhu stromu. Doporučuju ovšem zkoušet na
vlastním stromu, jinak vás někdo zelenej přizabije...
Text jsem neměl čas překládat, ale není tak složitý aby si ho HAM nebo někdo
mladý nepřeložil a staří to znají z dob časopisu Radioamatér a let před a po
válce. (myslím tu druhou světovou...) Některé snímky mají sníženou kvalitu
(teda všechny neb měly každej nad 1Mb) ale to je tím malým místem na webu. Na
druhý straně jsem vás o ně nechtěl obrat už z ohledu na to, že jsou z domu kde
Ramon bydlí v Limě, a z ohledu na pohled jak tam je krásně teplo a svítí
slunko, zatím co my máme prd a venku to vypadá jak v Londýně.
